Foundation Phase

Message from the Deputy Head

Robyn Jakins Grade 1 Teacher

The Primary School at Brescia House School offers a nurturing journey that begins in the Foundation Phase, from Grade R to Grade 3, and continues through the Intermediate Phase, from Grade 4 to Grade 6. At the heart of this journey is our Catholic Ursuline ethos, which provides a strong and grounded foundation while supporting an innovative approach to learning that responds to the needs of each child in a changing world.

We place great value on helping our students discover how to learn, while fostering a lifelong love of learning. Our curriculum is underpinned by academic excellence, alongside a wide range of opportunities for our girls to explore ideas, develop skills, and deepen their understanding in meaningful ways.

We encourage active and wholehearted participation in the spiritual, academic, sporting, and cultural life of the school. Our focus is on recognising and nurturing the unique strengths of every student, supporting them in reaching their personal best through diverse and engaging teaching and learning experiences.

Inspired by the spirit of St Angela, the visionary foundress of the Ursulines, our motto Serviam “I Will Serve” guides all that we do. Her values of care, unity, and relationships grounded in love and compassion are woven into our daily life. In this way, our students are thoughtfully guided to understand their place in the world, to appreciate the role they will play, and to develop a sense of responsibility for themselves, for others, and for the environment.
