Alumnae News Updates

Despite another year of Covid-19 the Brescia House School Alumnae Association has continued to be active under the leadership of Ruvimbo Mandonga (Matric 2005) and the enthusiastic committee of Samantha (Ward) Thorne (1991), Je’mae Mountjoy (2003), Cwayita (Faba) Fungeni (2003), Simonetta Guiricich (2005), Gugu Majija (2007), Dibueng Bosman (2015), Rosa Pisanti (2019) and Genevieve Michael (2020). Despite many functions having to be cancelled we did manage to hold the Young Alumnae cocktail party at the Bryanston Country Club in September. It was a relaxed evening to welcome the Class of 2020 to the association. On the morning of Saturday 26th June, the association held our sixth AGM, gathering in person and via Teams.

The Matric Induction took place at a special assembly on Monday 20th September. This year one aunt and six older sisters joined us to be part of the ceremony. This assembly was once again streamed live for those not able to attend in person. Skye da Silva spoke about sisterhood and how important it is to support each other. Then Ruvimbo (2005) had the privilege of inducting each of the Matrics of 2021 into the Association by draping a specially made Brescia Alumnae scarf around her, representing the bond of sisterhood that this association embodies. Mrs Gail Jacobs, Madam Sib Howard and Mrs Diane Ring were also inducted into the association after many years of loving service at Brescia House School.

As usual, our “girls” are always willing to give up their time for the school, even in this very strange year. Ruvimbo, Dibueng, and Rosa joined Mrs Loredana Borello and the Matrics at Head’s Time in June to meet the current girls and explain how the Alumnae Association works. In October, Rosa and Genevieve, with the help of Daniéle Enslin (Matric 2019) spent a day at school filming footage for a video of “A day in the life of a Brescia Girl” for the Alumnae website. We really appreciate our alumnae being so willing to remain part of the Brescia House community.

We currently have 18 alumnae with daughters at Brescia and one with a granddaughter, spread from Grade R to Grade 12. We encourage all our alumnae to keep in touch via Instagram, Facebook and the alumnae website. www.Alumnae.Brescia.co.za
