Irish Dancing

An Irish Dancing Competition took place in the main hall at Brescia House School this past Saturday, the 1st of June. The competition was hosted by the Duncan Studio of Celtic Dance. It was a successful event and Hannah Silcock did Brescia proud by winning the main trophies.

Out of her five hard shoe and soft shoe dances, Hannah achieved 4 first places and 1 second place. She was awarded two trophies, the main one being for winning both her hard and soft shoe dances in the Priomh Comortas (Pre-Championship) section.

The judges of the competition were from Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and dancers from various studios around Gauteng competed.

Sue Theron, founder of The Duncan Studio of Celtic dance, said she is most appreciative to Brescia House School for allowing the competition to be hosted at the school, and that it was particularly fitting that Hannah, being a Brescia House School girl, achieved so highly. The Duncan Studio hopes to host the competition at Brescia House School annually due to its success.
