PlayCraft Think Camp

20190702_123716_1280x720

Today's Think Camp, hosted at Brescia House School, showed that playing games is fun, but making them is even better. In PlayCraft, the students learnt how to use Command Blocks to build popular Minecraft minigames, applying coding and level design skills throughout.

We all know our favourite Minecraft mini-games: Cakewars, Capture the Flag, Maze escape, Parkour, Find the Button and so many more. Finally, in PlayCraft the boys and girls become their own game architects as they learn the skills necessary to make their very own simple game.

In PlayCraft they dissect some of their favourite games, discovering the building styles and game dynamics that make them so fun to play. They then apply what they have learned to their own game designs, creating miniature masterpieces and challenging their fellow students to test them out.

At the end of the day, students showed their creations to their parents and guardians, putting them to the test (and perhaps giving them some clues to help them save face).
