During the last week of the second term, the Grade R girls worked on their Inquiry Based Learning task. The theme was occupations and the girls were encouraged to fully explore and enjoy constructive play. The girls also participated in theme discussions about the different vehicles and buildings that are used by "people who help us." Girls were put into groups and planned their construction. They then drew a picture of what their vehicle/floor plan would look like bearing in mind the material that they have. Thereafter, the girls constructed their vehicle/floor plan using the recycled material that had been collected earlier, and then they painted and added the finishing touches.

This week the Grade 3 girls used clues to unlock the BreakoutEDU boxes. Once they had unlocked the boxes, they found their project topics - the Little Five. They then worked in groups to research and code an educational video in Scratch. Once this was complete, they used their coding skills to code their Beebots to navigate around various places on the mats.

Yesterday the grade 2 girls did an investigation about the Titanic. After finding the size of the ship on their iPads they went out onto the field and, using trundle wheels, they measured the size of the ship - from the Library doors all the way to the gate of the teachers car park in the grade R block. The line of girls that are close together was the width of the ship. Learning is so much fun!
