The final athletics fixture was held at St Stithians on Friday 1 November. Nine schools participated and the Brescia House athletes certainly stepped up their game!
The Grade 7 athletes were outstanding and won the High Jump (Yvonne Mthembu and Cassidy Pringle) and the Long Jump (Reabetswe Phume and Cassidy Pringle) events as a team. They were also placed in all the 100m heats (A: Lisa Kibuuka 1st; B: Caitlyn Bouwer 1st; C: Yvonne Mthembu 2nd; D: Reabetswe Phume 1st), the 200m heats (A: Caitlin Bouwer 2nd; B: Lisa Kibuuka 2nd) and they came second in the 4x100m relay.
The other grades also earned significant points with individual performances on the track and in the long jump pit:
Thea Holdt: 3rd in the 800m
Kristin Cikes: 1st in Gr 5 long jump (2nd overall with Amy Venter)
Julia Carlisle: 1st, 80m D heat
Grace Magwenzi: 1st, 60m C heat
Aphiwe Mkhasibe: 2nd, 60m D heat
Busi Simelane: 3rd, 100m A heat
Layla Mann: 3rd, 150m B heat
Gr 3 4x100m Relay: 3rd
Gr 4 4x100m Relay: 3rd
Brescia House came 5th overall, beating Kingsmead and only 2.5 points behind St Peter’s! Well done girls
