The Grade 2 girls have had an interesting 2 days researching the Titanic. They were placed in groups with girls from the other classes. Together they used their iPad's to scan codes which then linked them directly to the question they were researching.
We did a practical lesson in measuring out the actual size of the Titanic, on the school field, using trundle wheels. The girls found this fascinating and could then visualise the size.
There were various emotions expressed and the sadness at the loss of lives of passengers, crew and even dogs was discussed. We did stress that we all make mistakes in life but that we learn from these mistakes. The advance of technology, safety rules and regulations get put into place to ensure this doesn't happen again.
The girls are now busy completing their water colour paintings of the Titanic.
